Delivery Charge
As you know the price of fuel has been increasing rapidly. According
to the U.S. Department of Energy’s National U.S. On-Highway
Diesel Fuel Prices (http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/wohdp/diesel.asp),
the east coast average price is now $2.90 per gallon. You may
know that UPS has a 3% fuel surcharge and LTL trucks charge somewhere
between 14 and 16%. In an attempt to defray these costs we would
like to implement a nominal charge per delivery. Therefore, we
will be charging a $3.00 delivery fee for all orders over $100.00.
If there are separate orders being delivered simultaneously there
will only be one charge. Also, we can no longer afford to deliver
any orders under $50.00, but we will still send them out via UPS.
We will deliver orders between $50.00 and $100.00, but there will
be a delivery charge of $8.00. Of course, there will be no delivery
charge and no minimum for back ordered items.
Once the average price returns to the May 30, 2005 level of $2.18
per gallon, the delivery charge will no longer be in effect. We
thank you for your business and understanding . Please let us
know if you feel that this is an unreasonable request.
Thank You,
Lafayette Supply Co.
